Sonnet Stitches

Knitting, mostly. With occasional kvetching, lots of adventures, gratuitous cat photos and a healthy appreciation for the absurd.

When I take a blog holiday, I take a blog holiday.
No excuses... knitting has been happening, it's just that life has been happening as well. I have a sweater I am dying to post as soon as there is enough natural, non-soggy light in which to post it.

This, unfortunately, is what I get if I try to take pictures of knitting in my living room:

but I haven't had much choice.

If you're not local, we have had a yucky, yucky, winter. I wish I could be more eloquent, but alas, there aren't words. Life is going to slow down a little bit after KITH is over, and then my next project is to knit some variation on every single sock in this book. I'm halfway through the first sock right now. This is my plan to start making a dent in all my sock yarn.

Speaking of books, I'm library auditioning this one right now. Being a fan of brioche stitch, I'm intrigued by some of the stitch patterns.

Also on my list of things to covet is this book. I've been playing a bit with colorwork between projects:
and I am hopeful that when this long, repetitive, practice scarf is done, my gauge will be less wonky and I can move on to some sweaters over which I've been swoony.

(By the way, that scarf is made out of zauberball, which has come home with me from Misknits several times over the last few months. Oh, Misknits, how I love thee, let me count the ways... or rather, let me not, because I might get weepy and short out my keyboard.

Not much else is new, other than that I've been sick all weekend... I don't tend to get cripplingly sick very often, so it's kind of news. I went to bed with a horrible headache as soon as I got home from work Friday night and woke up at 2:30 a.m. with some kind of horrible stomach bug. The spouse made coffee the next morning and I had a weird dream that the coffee smell was a knife going down my nostrils and into my lungs. I think out of 48 hours, I slept 30. I just kept waking up to take stomach medicine and ibuprofen so that the top of my head wouldn't implode. I brought work home but couldn't stay awake to work on it, couldn't stay awake to knit, couldn't eat, etc. I'm much better now, but as you can see I'm seriously out of blogging practice because I just gave a detailed description of being sick for two days. Thrilling stuff, I'm sure.

And, as always, there is the standard blurry cell phone haircut picture. I haven't updated since August, which means I'm missing my blurry cell phone December haircut picture. Because I was on my way out of town for Christmas, the only pictures of that one were taken by a 2-year-old and therefore may not be particularly clear:

Here's the one from March:

I would post updates about running, but because of aforementioned yucky weather, that's been pretty boring, too: treadmill + gym track all winter = OMG I am out of shape for hills. I am looking forward to spring where I intend to arm myself with claritin and conquer my fear of hills once and for all. Who knows? Maybe that will mean I need LESS YARN for that fancy fair isle sweater next winter.

Love the socks! Great seeing you at KITH. It was a truly outstanding conference. Maybe soon you can relax? I can't wait to see the other socks you knit from Enchanted Sole. I have her first book. Took a class from her on Spinning for Socks and found her so inspiring.
